We can upgrade and monitor your existing Home Security System
Do You Need to Replace Your Entire Security System?
We can monitor or upgrade your existing Home Security System
Not necessarily.
If your home already has a security system, you may already have valuable equipment installed throughout the property. Depending on the system, Security One Services may be able to retain compatible door and window sensors, motion detectors, glassbreak detectors, hardwired security sensors and existing security wiring.
Instead of removing everything and starting over, we evaluate the existing system and determine what can safely and reliably remain in place.
The equipment that typically needs to be upgraded includes the control panel, keypad, communications equipment and backup battery. Older smoke and heat detectors are generally replaced rather than reused because life-safety equipment should be evaluated differently from ordinary security sensors.
Already Have a Qolsys IQ or 2GIG Security Panel?
You may have an easier upgrade path.
If your existing system uses an eligible Qolsys IQ or 2GIG panel, Security One Services can check whether the panel's cellular communicator is available for activation.
The key piece of information we need is the panel's IMEI number.
How It Works
1. Find your panel's IMEI number.
The IMEI is a unique identification number associated with the panel's cellular communicator.
2. Submit the IMEI to Security One Services.
Include the number with your inquiry form or provide it to our team by phone.
3. We'll check its availability.
We can determine whether the communicator is available for activation with Security One Services.
If the panel is eligible and available, you may be able to continue using the existing panel rather than replacing it.
Have an Older Honeywell, DSC Security System?
Don't assume you need a completely new alarm system.
Many existing security systems contain sensors and wiring that can continue to provide reliable service. Security One Services can evaluate your existing equipment and determine what can be retained and what should be replaced.
In many installations, the upgrade can focus on the control equipment rather than replacing every sensor throughout the home.
Depending on the system, we may be able to retain:
Door and window sensors
Motion detectors
Glassbreak detectors
Hardwired security sensors
Existing security wiring
We then upgrade the equipment necessary to provide modern system operation, communications and professional monitoring.
Upgrade to Modern Home Security Technology
An existing security system can often be upgraded to provide the features homeowners expect from a modern security system.
Depending on the equipment and system configuration, an upgrade can provide:
Smartphone control
Remote arming and disarming
Alarm notifications
Modern cellular communication
Professional alarm monitoring
Integration with compatible security cameras
Smart-home and automation capabilities
Remote system management
Security One Services can design the upgrade around your existing equipment rather than automatically replacing everything.
Switching Security Companies?
Changing alarm companies doesn't necessarily mean replacing your entire security system.
If you already have a security system installed, we can evaluate the equipment and determine whether it can be upgraded for use with Security One Services.
For customers with an eligible Qolsys IQ or 2GIG panel, we can check the panel's IMEI to determine whether its communicator is available for activation.
For other systems, we can determine which existing sensors and wiring can be retained and which equipment should be upgraded.
Why Upgrade Your Existing Security System?
Upgrading an existing system can offer several advantages over completely replacing it.
Retain Compatible Equipment
Keep compatible sensors and existing security wiring when they are still suitable for continued use.
Reduce Unnecessary Replacement
There may be no reason to replace every sensor and wire in the home simply because the control equipment needs to be upgraded.
